ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler says teams view the Eagles as a ‘real threat’ to acquire Myles Garrett this offseason with Josh Sweat likely to move on.

The Philadelphia Eagles have no plans to allow the Washington Commanders to acquire Browns star pass-rusher Myles Garrett.

Before we explain, Garrett is currently not available via trade. Cleveland general manager Andrew Berry doubled down on Tuesday at the NFL combine, saying Garrett is their franchise player and he was "unmoveable."

So, while Garrett may not be available right now, the Super Bowl champion Eagles will be aggressive to ensure that their NFC East rival — and a popular favorite to land Garrett — doesn't land Garrett should he be available.

According to ESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler, Eagles general manager Howie Roseman will likely be looking for a pass rusher to replace Josh Sweat. Sweat, coming off a career year and a phenomenal Super Bowl, is expected to depart via free agency. And for as good as Sweat is, he's nowhere close to Garrett. For Philadelphia, acquiring Garrett would serve two purposes: Help the Eagles' chances of repeating and keep a superstar away from the fast-rising Commanders.

For now, everyone can exhale. The Browns appear serious about keeping Garrett. He has two years remaining on his contract. Garrett, though, is equally as serious about wanting to play for a contender. He already said he'd "absolutely" play for the Commanders, and he certainly wouldn't turn down a trade to the defending champions.

Even if nothing happens with Garrett, the Eagles finally view the Commanders as a threat. When was the last time you could say that?
